Decorative Painting Techniques | Glaze and Trompe l’oeil
Glaze
The glaze is the product to be placed on the first layer of paint. To glaze your walls correctly, you should take some lessons. Many stores and decoration shops, neighborhood societies and other organizations offer free or low cost courses of this technique. The glazing consists of passing a transparent layer upon layer of base color paint, making the wall look bright and clear. You can spend as many hands as you glaze until you get the desired look.
Trompe l’oeil
“Trompe l’oeil” in French means “fool the eye.” This finish fools the eye surface resembling marble or granite. This is probably the most difficult technique of faux finish. To create an appearance of marble, using a technique similar to that of the sponge, but in this case requires a little more experience and talent. We recommend, as in the previous case, to take some classes in this technique or consult handbooks for this decorative finish successfully.
These four are the most used of false finishes. Although the first two are fairly straightforward, before implementing any of them plan well what to use, cost and technical requirements. If you exercise in the techniques advance with a workshop, you will feel safer when carrying them out on their walls, and the work it will be truly enjoyable.
